June Alderman

June Alderman writes for women navigating the disorienting identity shift of midlife — what she calls “second adolescence” — who have no map for it. Her voice is warm but direct, like a smart, well-read friend who has been through it herself and refuses to dress it up or minimize it.

Her work draws on developmental psychology, neuroscience, and adult identity research, but always translated into lived experience. She has been through the second adolescence herself and does not pretend otherwise. She does not prescribe or tell women what to choose. She does not use “crisis” language for what is actually developmental. She positions herself as someone further along the path, not arrived.
